One bright day in the middle of the night,
\nTwo dead boys got up to fight;
\nBack to back they faced each other,
\nDrew their swords and shot each other.<\/p>\n
A blind man came to watch fair play,
\nA mute man came to shout “Horray!”
\nA deaf policeman heard the noise and
\nCame and killed those two dead boys<\/p>\n
He lived on the corner in the middle of the block,
\nIn a two-story house on a vacant lot;
\nA man with no legs came walking by,
\nand kicked the lawman in his thigh.<\/p>\n
He crashed through a wall without making a sound,
\ninto a dry creek bed and suddenly drowned;
\nThe long black hearse came to cart him away,
\nBut he ran for his life and is still gone today.<\/p>\n
I watched from the corner of the big round table,
\nThe only eyewitness to facts of my fable;
